Attorney Michael Millett was born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Overland Park, Kansas. A lifelong Kansas resident, Michael feels a strong connection to the community in which he lives and practices law.

Michael’s family has a unique connection to the Greater Kansas City business community, as well as one of the best-known names in the Shawnee and Kansas City areas. Michael’s mother is Florence Louise Millett (née Zarda) who comes from the same branch of the Zarda family that settled in Shawnee in 1910 and founded both the Zarda Bar-B-Q and the Zarda Brothers Dairy.

Michael’s father, Richard C. Millett (who died in 2004), worked for the Bendix Corporation during the day and moonlighted in the evening at Sears & Roebuck to provide for the family and make sure that his son had the benefit of a good college education.

Michael was born in 1969 and attended Apache Elementary School, Hillcrest Junior High School, and Shawnee Mission West High School. He graduated from High School in 1988 and attended Pittsburg State University, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Michael excelled at academics in college. During his senior year, he was elected President of the fraternity and had the prestigious honor of being selected as a member of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities for 1993.

After graduating from Pittsburg State with degrees in Psychology and Political Science, Michael attended Law School at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas – graduating with his Juris Doctor in 1997. Shortly after graduating, Michael passed the Kansas Bar Exam and began working at the Public Defender’s Office in Junction City, Kansas. In January of 2000, Michael was recruited to the Law Firm of Marrietta, Kellogg, and Price in Salina, Kansas. Anxious to return to his home territory in the Kansas City area, Michael took a position with Berman and Rabin, P.A. in Overland Park in 2001.

On June 14, 2002, Michael struck out on his own and started his own law practice – specializing in DUI Defense, Criminal Defense, Traffic Ticket Defense, Construction Law, Domestic Law, Contract Litigation, and Insurance Defense. Since beginning his career in law, Michael has handled cases all over the state of Kansas. He has argued in Federal Court and before the Kansas Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals. To date, Michael has only lost one jury trial.

At present, Attorney Michael Millett is a member of the Kansas Bar Association, the Johnson County Bar Association, and the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
